When your Android phone or tablet fills up with apps, it's time to review what you have installed and do some housecleaning. Here's how to uninstall the downloaded apps you don't use anymore.

How to Delete System Apps
First, a warning. If you want to delete an app that shipped with your phone, you're mostly out of luck. Shy of going to drastic measures and rooting your phone, the system apps have to stay. Most of these apps are tied to the inner workings of your phone, and deleting them could break other apps. System apps include Gmail, Google Maps, Chrome browser, and Google Search. Some manufacturers, such as Samsung and Sony, put their own system apps on their phones and tablets in addition to the Google apps, and some, like the Amazon Kindle, remove all Google apps entirely and include a different set of system apps.
Deleting Apps on Standard Android Versions
If you have a standard version of Android, the steps to delete or uninstall an app are simple. There may be some variation for some varieties of phones, such as those made by Samsung, Sony, or LG, but this method works on most of them.
To delete apps on devices running older versions of Android before Ice Cream Sandwich:
- Tap Menu (either a hard or soft button).Visit webInPaint.com. Image watermark remover online free software. LunaPicIf you are looking for an alternative to WebInpaint, we recommend LunaPic because it does similar but not as intuitive work.
- Select Settings> Applications > Manage applications.
- Tap the app you want to delete.
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app from your device. If there's no uninstall button, it's a system app, and you can't delete it.
Deleting Apps on Recent Versions of Android
For Android Ice Cream Sandwich version, go to Settings > Apps and use the steps for the older versions of Android.
For versions after Jelly Bean:
- Open the app tray.
- Long-press on the app. (Hold your finger on the app until you feel a feedback vibration and notice the screen has changed.)
- Drag the app onto the Home screen.
- Continue dragging to the upper left corner, where you will see a trash can and the word Uninstall.
- Release your finger over the Uninstall button.
If you only see an area labeled App Info at the top of the screen, you cannot delete that app.
Deleting Apps on Some Samsung Devices
If the previous instructions don't work on your device, try these alternate instructions:
- Tap the Recent apps button followed by Task manager.
- Go to the Download tab and find the offending app.
- Tap the Uninstall button next to the app.
- Tap OK.
If you don't see an Uninstall button, you can't delete the app using this method.
Deleting Apps on a Kindle Fire
Amazon elected to go with an older version of Android and customize it to pieces for use with the Kindle, so the instructions to remove apps are different. You can manage your Kindle from your Amazon account on the web, but here's how you delete apps using the device itself:
- Go to the Home screen and tap on the Apps tab.
- Tap the Device tab to show only the apps on your Kindle as opposed to all the apps you could potentially store on your Kindle.
- Long-press on the app you want to remove until you feel or see a response.
- Tap Remove from Device.
It's worth noting that you're not limited to the Amazon App Store when you install apps. While you retain access to Kindle apps you've installed through Amazon, you don't necessarily have that same access to apps you installed through third-party app stores or side-loaded on your device.
Purchased Apps and the Cloud
Nearly all Android app stores let you keep your license to reinstall a purchased app. If you uninstall an app you bought from Google Play, for example, you can download it again if you change your mind later. If you want to delete your access to a purchased app forever, you must do that through your Amazon account on the web. It is a much more involved process than uninstalling it from a device. This may come in handy if you deem an app offensive and never want to see it again.
Spammy Apps That Make More Apps
Occasionally you may run into an app that makes other apps, so you find yourself deleting apps you don't remember installing. You're not imagining things. You can read more about avoiding Android spam, but if you can identify the offending app, you can get rid of the problem. Fortunately, app stores are cracking down on this sort of nuisance.
Fire TV Stick and other Fire TV devices have enough processing power to stream video, and some of them can even stream in 4K, but problems like slow speeds, lag, and app crashes still happen. If you're experiencing any of these problems, then you should clear the cache on your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV.
In most cases, clearing the cache on your Fire TV Stick will fix problems like slow speeds and app crashes. However, you may need to clear app data, clear cookies, or even reset your device to its factory settings if that doesn't do the trick.
What Is a Fire TV Cache?
One of the most useful things about Fire TV devices is that you can download apps that let you watch videos, listen to music, and do a whole lot of other things. Each app that you download has a cache, which is data that the app temporarily stores on your Fire TV device while it's operating.
How to Clear the Cache on a Fire TV Stick and Other Fire TV Devices
When an app stops working correctly, one of the most common causes is a corrupted cache. In some cases, an app can also slow down and not perform as well as you expect due to a cache that has become too large. In both of these cases, the solution is to clear the cache.
There is no option to completely clear every cache stored on your Fire TV device. The only way to clear the cache on a Fire TV Stick or other Fire TV device is to clear the cache for each individual app, or to clear the cache of only the specific app that's giving you trouble.
Here's how to clear the cache on Fire TV Stick and other Fire TV devices:
- Press the Home button to return to the Amazon Fire TV home menu.
- Select the Applications menu.
- Select an app to clear its cache.
- If your app still doesn't work correctly, repeat this process and select Clear data. Some apps, like Firefox, also allow you to Clear cookies.
- To clear additional caches, press the back button on your remote, select a different app, and then select Clear cache for each additional app.

How to Free Up Space on a Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Device
Clearing the cache of an app that tends to create an especially large cache can help free up space on your Fire TV Stick, but that's only one option.
If your aim in clearing the cache on your Fire TV Stick is to free up space, then you also need to look at the size of individual apps and how much data they store on your device.
- Press Home on your remote, and navigate to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Storage. This screen allows you to see how much storage space is left on your device. If your device really is running low on storage, then you will need to clear the cache or data on some apps, or even remove apps that you don't use regularly. You need to select Device or System instead of My Fire TV with some Fire TV devices and older software versions.
- Press Home on your remote, and navigate to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.Press up and down on your remote to scroll through your installed apps, and look at the information on the right side of the screen. This will allow you to identify which apps are taking up the most space.
- Size: The total amount of space taken up by the app, local data, and temporary cache.
- Application: The amount of space the application takes up by itself.
- Data: The amount of space taken up by locally stored data, like photos and videos that have been permanently downloaded to your Fire TV device.
- Cache: The amount of space taken up by temporary cache files.
- To free up space, select an app you don't use a lot, or one that has a large cache or locally stored data.
- Uninstall the app, clear the cache, or clear local data.Use Clear cache to remove temporary cache files, Clear data to remove locally stored data, or Uninstall to remove the app along with its local data and cache.
- Repeat this process until you have enough free space.
How to Reset a Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Device to Factory Settings
How To Delete An App On Fire Tv
Clearing the cache of an app on your Fire TV Stick will typically allow the app to start working correctly again. In some cases, you may need to choose the clear data option, or even delete the app and re-download it.
If your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV device still doesn't work correctly after clearing the cache of individual apps, you can perform a factory reset to clear all of the data that's stored on your device. This effects your entire Fire TV Stick instead of only dealing with one app at a time.
Do not perform the following factory reset process if your only goal is to clear the cache on a few apps. The following process will return your device to its original factory state, which will delete all of your apps.
Here's how to clear all of the data on your Fire TV device and return it to its original factory state:
- Press the home button on your remote.
- Navigate to Settings > My Fire TV.Depending on your device, and the version of your software, you may see Device or System instead of My Fire TV.
- Select Reset.

Similar to smartphones and other tablets, the Kindle Fire supports third-party apps that add features to the device. Unfortunately, not all apps work as expected; they can cause problems on your tablet or simply may not be that useful. Uninstalling a rarely-used or problematic app will free up memory for any of the thousands of other available apps, or create more storage for documents, photos and videos.
1.Tap 'Apps' to view all apps on your Kindle Fire.
2.Fallout new vegas weapons mod. Tap and hold the app icon, and select 'Remove From Device.'
3.Tap 'OK' to uninstall the app, if prompted, and select 'OK' on the completion screen. Note: Not all apps require confirmation. Some will be immediately uninstalled after the previous step.
Warning
- Some apps that are pre-installed on the Kindle Fire cannot be removed from the device.
