Power and electricity are an important asset in State of Decay 2. Supplying power to your base in State of Decay 2 boosts the efficiency of some of the facilities. It also boosts morale and happiness in the base, plus, it lights up your base nicely. There are several different options for how to get power in State of Decay 2, including generators, a solar array, or a power outpost. They will all depend heavily on your current situation with Influence and other stuff.
How to Get Power in State of Decay 2?
There are several ways to get power for your base in State of Decay 2. Arguably the easiest method is the generator mod. Some slots that can make use of power offer the option of hooking up the generator mod, or portable generator, if you have one. While it is the easiest option, it’s also the biggest hassle. It drains fuel, it takes a while to build (during which there will be noise) and start up (also noisy when it’s running), and you have to restart it manually on occasion. Luckily, you can do that on the go through the Base tab in the menu.
Then, there’s the option of using one slot in the base to build a generator, if you have the necessary . It also guzzles gas, and makes quite a bit of noise. It does, however, power the entire base, which is pretty great. If one of your survivors has Knowledge of Electricity and some materials, you can build a Solar Array on a large slot. It doesn’t require fuel, and, most importantly, it’s silent. It’s very much worth your while.
Lastly, arguably the best option other than the solar array is capturing a Power Outpost. That’s expensive in Influence (check out our guide on how to farm Influence Points for more info), and it does also consume fuel, but it’s well-worth the investments. You can just set it and forget it, as it were, and it also provides a safe, zombie-free area, plus some other perks.
State of Decay 2 Solar Array – How to Get?
To get the Solar Array generator in State of Decay 2, you’ll first need a large slot in your base. As far as materials go, you’re going to need 10 Circuitry scraps. Lastly, one of your survivors need to have Knowledge of Electricity, which stems from Utility Knowledge. This might just be the biggest snag you’re going to have, because you’re likely going to have to obtain the appropriate textbook.
To locate the Electricity textbook, your first stop can be a Library. There are a lot of different Knowledge textbooks you can find there, and Electricity could be one of them. If not, make sure to check with traders or friendly enclaves. Once you have everything you need, all that’s left is to construct the Solar Array in your base.
How to Capture Power Outpost in State of Decay 2?
To capture a State of Decay 2 Power Outpost, you’ll need enough Influence, and at least one open Outpost Slot in your base. Specifically, you’re going to need 2000 Influence, which is about the price of a pretty decent home base in State of Decay 2. Plus, to keep the Power Outpost running, you’re going to have to sacrifice two Fuel per day.
Even though the cost is pretty steep, the benefits you’ll reap are great. For one, you’ll get a constant power supply for the entire base, leading to a significant boost in morale. Plus, it will also allow you to switch characters in the outpost, and you’ll get a supply locker, giving you an additional place to store items you might find while scavenging. Lastly, it provides a safe, zombie-free zone in and around the outpost.
Xbox gamers can now preload their biggest exclusive in the first half of 2018: State of Decay 2. While the highly anticipated sequel doesn't release until May 22, players can get a head start and have it already installed so they can immediately start playing rather than having to wait for a huge file to download. As a side-effect to the preload going live, the official State of Decay 2 achievements and PC requirements have also gone live.
As an Xbox One Play Anywhere title, State of Decay 2 will feature cross-platform play on Xbox One and PC. Not only will players on different systems be able to play together, but those who game on consoles and PC will only need to buy one copy of the title to play on both. Cross-save functionality ensures that players get a seamless experience, even when jumping between the two ecosystems, the same as it was for Sea of Thieves earlier this year.

Considering Microsoft's sparse line-up of exclusive titles this year and last, there's a lot riding on State of Decay 2. Thankfully for them, the achievements indicate that there'll be plenty to do and see within the multiplayer zombie survival game. As long as the gameplay can hold up its end of the bargain then Microsoft will have a much needed success in their 2018 catalog.

Microsoft has debuted State of Decay 2, its latest zombie-themed survival game, with some deeper systems under its revamped gameplay. Capitalizing on the franchise's strengths, the successor debuts some promising prospects while driving a heavier emphasis on developing a sustainable community.
One of State of Decay 2's largest components is its base building, providing players with the ability to shape handcrafted settlements reflected in the game's world. But packing deeper mechanics than the original, for some, there may be a lot to learn.
Getting started with bases in State of Decay 2
Establishing, growing and maintaining a base is key to survival in State of Decay 2, providing a home to your digital society. Inside a base, you can accommodate people's needs, gather resources and advance the group's available technology.
In the game's opening hours, you'll be guided through the steps of establishing your first outpost and fostering a community within. Going forward new opportunities to expand your settlement will surface, through the 'facilities' system.
After establishing a successful base, you're not stuck there forever either. Over time new locations can be unlocked, which can change in layout and size.
State of Decay 2 facilities explained
Facilities are a modular backbone to State of Decay 2 construction, which add increased functionality to your base. Installed facilities can be further developed through optional upgrades, granting additional alterations or improvements. Facilities can also be damaged by zombies and must be maintained through costly repairs.
However, managing facilities doesn't come cheap - building, upgrades, and repairs all require resources or the game's main currency, 'Influence.' Many of these are also subject to build times, and since offline progression has been retired, these are tracked through real-time in-game.
Facilities are managed by visiting a dedicated menu, which employs an abstracted view of your base. A modular card system is used for viewing and upgrading facilities, with a cursor to reveal potential actions for a selected area. New upgrades can be placed on empty spaces, while occupied spaces can be upgrades or cleared.

Growing and maintaining a base is crucial to surviving the harsh world that State of Decay 2 has to offer.
A base exists as a place to store materials and items you find along your adventures as well as offering you a safe space in a world that is always trying to kill you. While the odd zombie might jump the fence or cause you concern, they are usually places to relax, plan out your next hunt, and give you some reprieve.
Bases, however, are more than just safe spaces and can provide certain tools and abilities to the player through the use of its facilities. This guide will help you understand the different facilities that are available to build so that you are always prepared.
What are base facilities?
In short, a facility is a craftable structure in your base that can provide items to your playable characters to help them on their adventures and scavenger hunts.
Bases and base facilities were an option that existed in the first game. State of Decay 2, however, has added a bunch of new options and upgradeable options to shake up the formula.
Why are facilities important?
Different facilities can provide unique bonuses or effects for your community to make your life a lot easier in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Certain facilities can generate crucial resources like food or medical items to keep your community alive, or they can give you the chance to craft weapons, ammo, and items to keep you stocked up for your next venture away from home.
What facilities can I craft in the game?
Depending on your play-style, one facility may be more beneficial in your quest to survive than others.
Certain facilities and upgrades can only be crafted once you have a member who has knowledge in certain things, however. You will also need certain parts, resources, or pre-existing structures to craft what you need as well.

Base defense can become quite a big gameplay factor in State of Decay 2. It can, also, be one of the hardest tasks in the game. It sometimes feels like all you do is running back to the base to defend it and restock supplies instead of exploring the open world. Hordes of zombies seem to constantly target your base. Your followers seem to spend all your ammunition and meds just to fend them off. We’ll try and provide some tips and pointers to help reduce zombie horde attacks on your base and about base defense in general in State of Decay 2.
Basic Base Defense Tips for State of Decay 2
A good start in preventing frequent base attacks is to clear out surrounding buildings and area of zombies. They will respawn after a while, but you should stay safe until that happens. Lookout for nearby infestation points and try and clear them out. This also helps reduce the possibility of a zombie horde attack. Plague hearts keep creating plagued zombies. Get rid of these and you may be able to sleep a little safer. Just remember that each destroyed plague hearth makes the next one harder to kill. Build a Watchtower in your base. This removes 2 threat from your zombie meter. It requires a guard and ammo, but upgraded version removes even more threat. Do not create your base in an urban or overrun area, unless you have a lot of armed followers and supplies to fend of the attacks. Rural areas with lot of empty space around will make things easier on you.
Reduce noise of your base to reduce zombie horde base attacks
Noise will attract more zombies. Who would have think? Go to your map, then choose base in the upper menu to see your base facilities (or press B on keyboard). In the lower left corner is the Threat meter. This tells you what makes noise and how much of it. Based on this the game calculates how often you will get attacked by zombies. Having more people inside your base creates more noise! Do not overcrowd your base until you have enough materials and supplies to defend it. Certain buildings create a lot of noise. Electric generator, for example, is great for raising morale, but what help is it to you of having happy, yet dead, followers? Generator creates a lot of noise. Try and build Solar array instead, but you will have to have a base with a big slotto build it. Sheltered beds also make noise, so dismantle some if your threat level is too high. Construction creates a lot of noise. Do not build multiple base modules at once. Build them one after the other. If you finish the game you will unlock legacy boons and if you had a builder leader his boon provides noiseless electricity and water.
How to defend from a zombie horde attack on your base
State Of Decay 2 Wiki
If your base has holes in its walls it will be harder to defend. Try and choose a base with only a few entry points and high walls. When the zombies attack they will start banging on your base doors. If you open them they will stumble and fall, opening an opportunity for one shot kills. Just remember the to close the doors afterwards so you can repeat this trick. There is also a trick where you park some cars in front of some of those entrances in such way that the attacking zombies can’t enter. You leave just one entrance that way and all the zombies will funnel through that single point of entry. This makes it much easier to kill them and your life easier.
State Of Decay 2 Builder Legacy
To summarize, you want to build watchtowers and keep your noise levels at bay to have zombie attacks as seldom as possible. We hope these tips prove useful for you and make your State of Decay 2 life a bit easier. If you have additional tips or help for players make sure to leave them in the comments bellow and we will update the article.
